Tolworth Hospital forms part of South West London and St George’s Mental Health Trust’s estate modernisation programme. The aim of which is to improve and extend the mental health care offering within the community. The hospital cares for those; receiving assessment or medical treatment under the 1983 Act, people whose rights are restricted under the Mental Health Act, mental health conditions and caring for adults over 65.

Within the estate modernisation programme, developments have also been made at Springfield University Hospital in Tooting which has been the primary location for mental health services in South West London. The new facility at Tolworth will supplement the Trust’s mental health provision.
